LORE

OUR STORY BEGINS…

…in Houston, Texas where Katrina C. Tarson was born and raised. These days, you can find her in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she has spent the last decade building a creative home.

Her work as a playwright and director is rooted in a deep love for the ensemble, stylized movement, and modern poetic language. She enjoys breathing new life into classic texts, as well as writing new stories that feel familiar. By centering female perspectives and reimagining the function of a Greek Chorus, she creates highly aesthetic productions that tackle complex subject matter.

Katrina’s artistic practice is backed by a BA in Theatre Education from Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe 'em, Jacks!) and an MA in Theatre from the University of Houston (Coogs House!), alongside specialized training in trauma-informed care, community engagement, and arts accessibility. This foundation has fueled her leadership roles across the state, from directing in public schools to heading education programs for professional theatres. Currently, she serves as the Vice President of OdysseyStage and is pursuing certification as a Mental Health Coordinator to further support the well-being of the artists she collaborates with.

When she isn’t in a rehearsal room or drafting a new script, Katrina is likely at home with her two most honest critics: a cat named Sal and a basset hound named Fish Willy.

Other passions include: baking, crystals, plants, twinkle lights, and embroidery.
